Grandparents Seeking Contact With Grandchildren

Author: Anthi Balafas
Publish Date: January 22, 2009

Sometimes when family members dispute, the parents of children might stop the children from having contact with their grandparents. This may deprive the child and the grandparent from partaking in an important and loving relationship.

If you are a grandparent seeking contact with your grandchild, you do have rights. The Family Law Act acknowledges that the grandparent-grandchild relationship can be an important relationship and allows the grandparent to make an application for contact with the grandchild. Such applications are assessed on a case by case basis and the Court will decide whether such contact is in the best interests of the child.

Please contact Rockliffs Solicitors if you wish to discuss how to make an application to the Court to have contact with your grandchild.
